well, I definitely struggled last week. But this should be a better week, and then a 3-day holiday weekend with hopefully a few extra hours just for reading.

just finished: I did finish reading the new Megan Abbott, and it’s really good. Sisters, money, and desperation. It’s crazy! More about that tomorrow.

currently reading: Fan Favorite. And I am loving it. Edie Pepper gets dumped sees that the new bachelor on reality dating show The Key is her high school boyfriend. He had been a band nerd named Charlie Bennett, and he’s reinvented himself as a sporty traveler named Bennett Charles. After a little too much wine, Edie DMs one of the show producers to make a case for her true love. The producer loves it and brings her onto the show. Suddenly, she’s competing against a bunch of women who are younger, skinnier, and Instagram famous. But the producers love her storyline. If you’re a fan of reality shows and/or books about reality shows, then keep this one in mind. It’s so much fun!

I’m also reading Julius Julius, about the oldest advertising agency. It’s a lovely sweet satire of the industry and the creatives who bring it to life.

up next: new cookbook! Out this week is Craveable, from TikTok’s Seema Gets Baked. Sounds delicious!
