Gah, what a week! It was a week full of work deadlines, but also, it was one of those weeks where everything went wrong. People got us what we needed really late, there’s a flu or something going around the office, and one computer died. This week may be just as bad, since we’re still waiting on some last minute things from other people, we have more big deadlines, and there may be jury duty. I’m just going to try to put my head down and get things done. We’ll see how that goes.

But also, it’s June. Welcome to summer reading!

currently reading: I’m still listening to Katherine Center’s The Love Haters. It’s so good. I mean, laugh-out-loud funny. Perfect summer reading right there.

I’m also reading Doggone Bones, a cozy mystery about a Southern private detective who is looking into a case of dognapping. But it’s not just dognapping. It’s questionable online pet detectives, sketchy breeders, and a dog fighting ring. This one pops with big personalities in the way that only Southern writing can. It’s lots of fun, but also tough for animal lovers.

I’ve also started Catfight, out on Tuesday. It’s about a small section of a bougie neighborhood where there are rumors of a panther roaming around. It’s billed as Desperate Housewives meets Tiger King, if that tells you anything. To me, that says: read me immediately.

up next: honestly I have no idea. I’m spending most of my energy on those work deadlines, but like I said, it’s June. Head to your favorite bookstores or library and stock up on those new summer reads. Pool reads! Beach reads! Vacation reads! Inside in the air conditioning reads (my favorite)! Just relax and let the books take you away for a bit.
